Merrily's Quilt Shop Blog

July 30, 2008

Six of us went to Kansas City to attend Bernina University last week.  Our minds are spinning with all the possibilities.  The new 830 model was unveiled and it is quite a machine! You can stop by the shop to see a picture of the machine.  It has a 12" throat and sews 1100 stitches per minute.  Now that's fast.  There are many other wonderful features, too many to list here.  We can't wait to have one in the shop.

In the upcoming months we will be starting 3 new clubs: a Bernina Club, an Embroidery Club (not just for Bernina owners), and a Serger club.  There will be many new classes dealing with sewing that we have not offered before.  Our newsletter will be full of this information and should be mailed the end of August.

I am off to Pennsylvania in the morning.  I am going to a big family reunion.  Charley says I will see lots of cousins.  It should be fun.  Then right after our Saturday pick up, we are off to Disney World with the grandkids.  It will be a great time.  The Tea Room will be closed for that week, but the Quilt Shop will remain open.

I don't know about you, but I am glad to see summer finally here.  The sunny days I love.  I was just a little tired of all the gloomy rainy days.

Take care and I'll see you with my Florida tan  (Actually, it will be very red, I'm sure).

The Tea Room is open! The food is terrific. Stop by for lunch Tuesday-Saturday 11 am -2 pm. We will be closed on Friday for July 4th celebrations...both the Tea Room and the Quilt shop. Ron and I are taking the entire family to Disney World the first week of August, so the Tea Room will be closed August 1-9, but the Quilt Shop will remain open. It should be an exciting time with the grandbabies. This is the first vacation Ron and I have taken since we opened the Quilt shop ( almost 8 years now). We are so looking forward to the time with the children and grandkids. Christmas fabric has been arriving all through June. Be sure to shop early for these fabrics as we tend to run out of them by the Fall.

Six of us from the shop will be attending Bernina University from July 16-20. When we return, we will be ready to sell you a new Bernina! We are so excited since most of the staff already sews on a Bernina. Hope to update again soon.

Happy 4th,
Merrily (This was for you Sharon!)

There is so much to tell you this time. Our biggest news is that we officially became Bernina dealers this week. In one week, Kay, Micky, Nancy, and I will be traveling to Chicago to train on all the Bernina products. Then in July, I will take Nancy, Carol, Charley, Kay, and Dee to Kansas City to attend Bernina University. It will be quite a busy time. After that, we will be stocking the machines. I am so looking forward to the new machine being introduced in Kansas City. Our tech guys will be Quiltin' Bill Fullerton and John Fellin. Both of these guys are quite mechanical and will be trained to service machines the first of August. I am very lucky to have such experience willing to help us at this time.

The Tea Room is really starting to look great! They expect to have the decor finished by Friday. Rodney is training his new staff this week. Ron and I put tables together today. It is very exciting to see it all come together. We are aiming to open the week of June 24. I hope all of you can join us in our Grand Opening celebrations that week.

Believe it or not, we will be taking our first vacation in 10 years in August. The whole family, including the 4 grandkids, son-in-laws, daughters, and Ron will be going to Disney World for a whole week. I know, it will be HOT, but we are so looking forward to the Magic Kingdom with the kids. Come and see us at the Tea Room!

Until the next time,
Merrily
